The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is coming up April 9-10, 2016.
Here's how to create a vintage look for your brand new books.

Before starting, gather your supplies:
  • two sheets text weight marble paper from www.demilodesign.com
  • double stick tape
  • scissors
  • ruler (optional)
  • paper for printing “Sustain & Heal” gift tags (optional). Click here to download gift tag pdf template.

STEP ONE: Lay book open and flat on top of the main color marble sheet. Cut (it doesn't have to be perfectly straight) it so you have about three extra inches on the sides and two inches top/bottom.

STEP TWO: If you want a complimentary color on the spine cut a a strip wide enough to wrap around the spine of the book. Using double stick tape adhere it to the center.

STEP THREE: Fold top and bottom as pictured. Leave about 1/16 inch margin (for hardback books or a little less for paperbacks).

STEP FOUR: Center the spine and fold around as pictured.

STEP FIVE: Open book and tuck front and back covers into flaps.

STEP SIX: Finish with title labels if desired. Click here to download our favorites.
